Mr. Fractalpus was sloshing around freely, one day, until a large man in a hazardous chemical suit trapped him in a static field. The large man was a freelance wild animal specialist who was clumsily fulfilling a contract for the Nature-Lab Channel (NLC).
In the deepest depth of the Northern Pacific Ocean, lives the Fractus Invertebrata, or Fractalpus. This creature has the fantastic ability to regenerate its form into a new shape, spitting forth tentacles where a seemingly solid backside had previously squirmed.
